A Magical Evening

Toronto Jewish Chorus Concert, May 17, 2012 at Temple Emanu-El in Toronto

Thank you to all the performers, volunteers, crew, and sell-out crowd for a truly magical night. Our first annual gala concert was a huge success filled with magic, music, and of course mandelbroit.

“Melodies and Mandelbroit” featured the Toronto Jewish Chorus with special guests, Baeck (from the Leo Baeck Day School), Cantor Beny Maissner, and Rabbi Noam Katz. The concert was held at Temple Emanu-El in Toronto. From the first beautiful tones of the TJC Barbershop Quartet to the standing ovations at the conclusion, the capacity crowd was mesmerized.

A few highlights:

  • narrator/emcee Harvey Atkin’s hilarious ad-libs
  • a stunning rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Halleluya by the TJC Barbershop Quartet
  • a wonderful rendition of Hineini/Lean on Me with the combined TJC and Baeck
  • a beautiful niggun setting featuring guest soloist Cantor Benjamin Maissner
  • Rabbi Noam Katz performing his own “Oseh Shalom”, joined by the TJC and the entire audience

Clearly we’re going to have to do this again!

Here’s a little taste of our musical feast. A better video is in the works!
